The animated museum (Muse)
Start date: Oct 31, 2005, End date: Jun 29, 2007 PROJECT  FINISHED

The concept of the Animated Museum stems from the Street Museum project implemented by the Sergej Mašera Museum of Piran-Pirano. In this sense, the Animated Museum offers to a public of young people and children, innovative forms of animation of artworks, in order to stimulate their curiosity and their interest in the museums collection and therefore in their own historical and cultural roots. The project aims at diversifying the tourism offer and fostering a cultural thematic tourism that promotes cross-border cooperation: for this reason actions were carried out to raise awareness among school authorities and the relevant local, public institutions, to encourage their participation in the project and its implementation. Contacts were set up with schools to plan theatre workshops managed by the students themselves, and aimed at five animated visits to the Museums of Reclamation. Moreover, theatre and museum experts helped the students in the setting up of theatrical performances, that were subsequently presented in the course of the visits to the Museums. A good contact network was set up with Italian and Slovenian schools, while a telematic network was created among the various cross-border schools, which enabled an intercultural dialogue and exchange. In conclusion, the project implemented a tourist promotion action followed by the production of information material, which resulted in the one-day event entitled The Animated Museum meets the children, an opportunity to showcase this innovative strategy of communication and education undertaken by the project.
