TEXTILE AND CONSTRUCTION - Development of a Training Tool for the Interpretation of Standardised Test Results in the Textile for Construction Sector

In order to enhance both knowledge and application of the standard testing of textiles for construction amongst architecture students, the project will develop and pilot a database of selected textile products and their associated standards and will create a pedagogical module, accompanied by summaries of 100 standards and 20 DVD mini-films demonstrating testing methods. Following a survey of textile products and related standards, partners will select one series for inclusion in a new on-line database. The pedagogical module will guide project-based learning of the links between products, standards and resulting applications and will include manuals, reference materials and DVD mini-films. The primary outcomes of the project will comprise a database, a pedagogical module and a final project report (contain 100 summaries of standards and corresponding tests). Internal and external evaluation, in addition to training sessions and piloting across partner countries will lead to finalisation of the various instruments and a set of teachers guidelines. All materials, in paper and electronic format, will be developed in EN and later translated into FR, DE, NL & HU. Promotion of interim and final results will be targeted at architecture and textile students as well as professionals in the construction and textile sectors via education and research networks, standard-setting agencies and social partner networks, including the Sectoral Dialogue Committee for Textile and Construction. A project website will further facilitate open exchange throughout the project.
