TEST i.e. Trainings in Europe for Success-oriented Teachers
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project called “TEST” had two intentions: First it was a project that intended to find out how the new program called Erasmus+ could broaden opportunities for teacher training and job shadowing with a European dimension in the long term; second it was an acronym for “Trainings in Europe for Success-oriented Teachers”. With this project we wanted to give opportunities to our motivated teacher colleagues to develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities and exchange their experience with teachers from other countries. Considering the needs of our school there were three courses of action we have chosen as far as the development of our staff was concerned. With this successful project, first we gave opportunities for teachers to develop their foreign language skills. Second we were able to provide job-shadowing in the field of ICT, how to use IWB during lessons and language teaching in a European country. And third we strongly believe that methodology development didn’t stop when higher education ended and our teachers still need some methodology development, so we could support them in the field of teacher training. Let’s have a look at it step by step: 1. With this project, as a first step, we could provide opportunities for our teachers (2 people) to improve their language skills, develop fluency and get confidence in everyday conversation. Both of them reported about a really successful self-development. Now they are ready to share their experience and start extracurricular activities for our students. 2. With job-shadowing we could offer opportunities for our staff to learn new ways of using ICT and IWB during lessons and compare, share and exchange experiences with international teachers. With their experience they can develop their abilities and reach European standards. By sharing different teaching methods and exchanging good practices we, teachers, experienced teamwork at a European level and provided our students with new opportunities to acquire knowledge. Our target countries for our professional groups (normally 2 people each) were Portugal, the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Spain and Turkey. Some of our teachers got special invitations from our partners so we could provide job shadowing opportunities not only for 6 but for 10 colleagues. All of them reported about their experience not only on our website but within the framework of a presentation for school staff. We learnt many useful methods, good practices and great ICT tools or applications. Within the framework of training/teaching assignments abroad, one of our colleagues got the opportunity for teaching assignment. It was an extraordinary mobility, where our colleague could try out her abilities, practiced different teaching methods, got in touch with teachers and students and used her creativity to design English lessons. The language for teaching and communication was English. After arriving home she trained our colleagues and taught them several interactive tools for language teaching. 3. With teacher training sessions the aim was to prepare our staff for their future career model, raise their awareness of current issues for the future, building connections and strengthening the bond between EU countries. Our colleague chose a well-known teacher training school that provided a wide variety of courses. She took part in two courses, one in 2014 and one in 2015. The chosen courses were: “Using IWB and Mobile Technology” and “British Life, Language and Culture”. We relied on the personal experience that individuals in the EU have acquired throughout their lives and careers. When shared, this experience was a great tool to promote the development of other professionals. All in all we consider our project, called TEST i.e. Trainings in Europe for Success-oriented Teachers, a very successful project. With this project we could provide 11 mobilities for our teachers but fulfilled 15 mobilities. Thanks to Erasmus+ KA1 action, our teachers learnt not only about different teaching methods in the EU but their horizons were widened and they also developed their social skills.
