Tenalta 2016
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school caters for the holistic needs of the child in line with the national curriculum framework, however at grass roots level our system still places a lot of importance on the academic, at the expense of other important areas such as information technology, creativity and entrepreneurial skills. This training course aims to offer some of our staff members the opportunity to experience learning in another country, immersing themselves in the culture and language of the place whilst at the same time learning specific skills, mainly on line marketing, designing a website and management in classrooms. This will serve as a catalyst to enhance the confidence of our staff in using technology more often in the classroom. After the training course we will organise sharing of best practice workshops with all the school's staff members to disseminate the outcomes of the project. We will choose 7 teachers and teacher assistants from our Winter school and another 9 from our Summer school. All our teachers are qualified with ample experience teaching in the primary classroom. They will ensure immediate outcomes by taking part in etwinning projects and participating more in school blogs with their pupils. Teacher assistants are University students who are training to become teachers. Their impact is more long term since what they learn, they will implement not only in class now, during their practicum but also in future when they graduate and become educational leaders.
