Tehetséggondozás a sokszínű Európában
Start date: Dec 31, 2015, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The title of the project is: Enhancing Gifted Students’ Learning and Motivation in a Varied Europe Our secondary grammar school provides students with general education in addition to preparing them for successful studies at tertiary level as the majority go on to higher education. The acclaim of the school is based on the high standard of teaching mathematics, physics and foreign languages, with opportunities to specialize in them. Furthermore, our school places a high priority on providing an encouraging environment for gifted children in various fields. The aim of this project is to improve the foreign language competence of the participating teachers in English, German and French. In order to improve the abilities and attitudes our students will need to study and work in an international environment in Europe, more highly qualified, well-trained, enterprising teachers are required. The actual project focuses both on improving the linguistic competence and enhancing professional skills our teachers of maths, Hungarian, physical education and languages need to enable their students to meet these expectations. The preparation of students for life-long learning is one of the major objectives of our school. However, schools of the 21st century are facing the challenge of being able to adapt to the needs of a rapidly changing world in terms of communicative and digital competencies. Teachers of all subjects need to improve these skills. The project also contributes to our other objective, namely establishing strategic partnerships with other European schools in order to increase our students’ mobility in the EU. We have already registered in the eTwinning network to find partner institutions and projects involving our school and studens. Moreover, we are planning to initiate an Erasmus+ KA2 strategic partnership, further developing our relationship, with our long-time partner school in Dortmund, Germany. Participating in courses for teachers from all over Europe will give us an opportunity to meet and communicate with potential future partners, thus building further international connections. The participants will be able to cooperate in a multilingual European environment and share their experience in their field. Furthermore, they will be able to acquire new student-centred teaching methods (cooperative/task-based/blended learning) and approaches (interdisciplinary, interactive). It is essential not only in teaching languages but also in science and skills subjects. The participating teachers will improve their English, French or German as well as gain information of their European colleagues’ education systems. Our institution will have a wider European perspective via cooperative learning environments in international groups and will benefit from our colleagues adapting their new skills into their daily school work. The school management, after consulting the leaders of the sub-teams, delegates several candidates to participate in the project. The participants have been elected democratically, with equal opportunity, according to their professional performance and efficiency. All nine nominated teachers intend to improve their professional competences and language skills by gaining extensive knowledge from the courses they attend within the selected countries. Our project includes 9 mobilities to 3 different destinations: the UK, France, Germany. The following courses will be attended by the colleagues: I.
