Tehdään Meidän koulu á la Alaranta
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Jun 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

It is our job to make lifeIong learning possible, which is the basis of of building a good life. To get there we feel that we need more good practises and hands-on tools to apply in our work. Our goal is to improve our functional and hands-on teaching methods, physical learning surroundings and ways to integrate arts to our teaching. We are also interested in finding better and more effective ways of emotional education. By all this we aim to further childrens growth to become their "best self" and furthermore to prevent early school leaving. In our project, we are applying funding for seven members of our staff to participate job shadowing periods in two separate groups. The actions will take place in our partner school Edinburgh Montessori Arts School, where the practises are very child oriented, memorable and functional. By observing these practises and vividly discussing them with the staff we want to embrace practises, that in fact help the child to become his or her 'best self'. We also aim to improve our teachers´ language skills through true interaction with colleagues in a foreign country. This will benefit the pupils as the teaching will become more versatile and find new depths when the teacher's understanding of the world around us will broaden. This way the teachers will also be better equipped to help the pupils get ready for the demands of the ever more international world. By learning to recognise talent and increasing creative thinking we in the long run are also increasing Europe's competitiveness. The good practises applied through this project will be directed straight to our everyday life in our school to benefit our pupils. In addition we will share our experinces and ideas in our school's website and our school paper for our colleagues benefit.
