Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In the modern work environment, due to the rapid amending changes in the economic, technological and social level as well as due to the continuous advance of sciences, it is essential to be continuously informed as regards the current technological advances and the new educational methods with special emphasis on specializing and on-going training. Because of the internet and of the World Web, the privilege of education can be directly available, with no geographical or time restrictions. Work, family or other limitations or obligations can, to a degree, co-exist with the necessities of the continuous vocational education. The increasing demands in the working environment and the speed of information transmission lead to the person’s need to have timely knowledge, re-education and re- training. A new method, rapidly spread internationally, is e-learning which is commonly called tele-education. It is a new philosophy of transmitting knowledge from a distance in the frame of continuous learning which abolishes the limitations of the conventional teaching through the use of new technologies, and contributes to the covering of the educational needs deriving from the pre and after a person’s enrollment in the work market. Also, it offers more educational opportunities to a wide range of adults, offering them the capability to define the time and the place of their education. The submitted proposal aims at familiarizing the trainees with modern learning environments and new educational practices and prospects of the life-long learning as well as the promotion of innovative learning methodologies as regards the vocational training field. The participating trainees in the particular mobility are educators of a vocational senior high school of several specifications. Some of the participating teachers have already attended the seminars on new technologies organized by the Ministry of Education and have acquired the familiarity with reference to the use of new technologies. The scheduled activities and the methodology to be used in order to realize the plan, is based on a hybrid model of both re-educating and re-training. Specifically, there will be short-time seminars of re-educating on e-learning platforms, such as moodle, and visits to bearers who have already realized e-learning environments to see the practical application of these tools. The expected plan results are firstly for the participating educators to acquire knowledge and skills and secondly to become familiar with this new educational method with the aim to integrate it in the educational procedure, for example the organizing of the lessons in electronic form. For this reason, the Ministry of Education has developed the proper tools, such as the Electronic Class (htpp://eclass.sch.gr/) and the asynchronous e-learning platform (htpp://e-learning.sch.gr/). We hopefully expect that the impact of the particular plan will be on the final team-target, that is the students, to be benefitted through the creation of an open learning environment which will not be restricted to the short time frames of the traditional teaching.
