Techniques of data collection and processing in a cross-border context - Trainees: Igor Lakovic and Roberta Vincoletto
Start date: Nov 30, 2004, End date: Jun 29, 2006 PROJECT  FINISHED

The actors participating in this project aim at training professionals who can recognize and manage the data collection process with reference to the presence of minorities and, specifically, the Slovenian one in Italy and the Italian one in Slovenia. The two trainees - one residing in the eligible Italian area, the other in the eligible Slovenian area - belong to said minorities and participate in their training through a work experience lasting eight months. Specifically, the project is aimed at training a new professional figure that responds to the needs of the crossborder area, while favouring at the same time a detailed and compared analysis of the two ethnic minorities present in the territory, with a view to strengthening integration and enhancing cooperation. The trained professionals deal with the collection of the documents required and of the data on the two minorities; the definition and drawing up of projects based on the statistical data derived from the activities performed by the two communities (particularly in the cultural sector); the analysis of cooperation and relations with their respective majorities in the border area; the filing of documents and data processing; the publication of research results on websites; direct and telephone surveying with data entry and computer processing; the relations with schools as well as the organisation of conferences connected with the two minorities.
