The main activity in the project is the elaboration of the documentation needed for the construction of sewer systems and waste-water treatment plants in several smaller towns in the border area (Bazakerettye, Donja Dubrava, Donji Vidovec and Kotoriba). By creating the prerequisites for waste-water drainage from households and businesses in the area, the project will in the long-term contribute to the protection of underground and surface sources of drinking water and improvement of quality of life and protection of health, as well as preservation of wildlife, biodiversity and the whole ecosystem, followed by economic development, tourism development, economic and social cohesion. Achievements: The border communities taking part in the project – Bázakerettye, Donja Dubrava, Donji Vidovec and Kotoriba – have for years been trying to solve the problem of wastewater and sewage systems and their negative infl uence on the environment. This problem was fi nally approached systematically within this project, with technical documentation being elaborated for the wastewater systems of all the participating municipalities. The documentation will support the construction of technologically advanced, environmentally friendly and sustainable systems that will benefi t the whole area.
