Team Up Teach
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project „Team up Teach” will be implemented by the teachers of Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących No 9 in Gdańsk. ZSO No 9 is a hospital school offering education and psychological support to students suffering from psychiatric disorders. The project responds to the school’s current requirements: it will improve the quality of our educational services and it will expand our school’s modern European dimension. The main goal of the project is compatible with the school’s mission: preventing students’ premature school termination which is completed by facilitating children and teengers with a possibility of realizing compulsory school education during their hospitalization and convalescence process. The school will focus on accomplishing the project’s goal through developing teachers’ professional skills and also carrying out detailed aims such as the prevention of violence and discrimination through implementing modern educational methods, the prevention of unemployment through introducing professional career consulting scheme applied adequately to the students’ disorders and abilities. Moreover, the school will attempt to raise the students’ motivation through enhancing the School’s Motivational and Educational System. Acquiring the knowledge about school systems operating in other countries will enable us to identify more accurately and thus fulfil our students’ needs particularly in the context of students coming from emigrant and re-emigrant families. Finally, the project will substantially influence the enhancement of educational and didactic skills of the teachers as well as their linguistic competence not to mention the fact that it will broaden their European cultural horizons and indirectly the students’, too.Despite the fact that only the school staff will be directly involved in the project’s activities, it is the students patients who are the target beneficiaries. The project is planned to be implemented in two phases. Foreign courses and Job Shadowing will be attended by 12 people: teachers, counsellors, psychologist and the Managing Staff. Having returned from their activities they will be obliged to run theme group workshops in order to train other staff members. All staff members will also be invited to take part in the cultural and linguistic preparations for the project. This way the project will indirectly involve all staff members. To monitor and document the project’s progress and to share its results a WIKI webpage will be created and systematically updated. The webpage will contain all didactic materials from the courses (both the ones obtained from the organisers and the ones developed by the teachers themselves), foreign courses’ and Job Shadowing reports as well as tools and results of evaluation of the project’s phases. The results of the project will be palpable for the school, its students and staff and the society in general:1. The school’s educational and therapeutical position will certainly be enhanced.2. The staff will improve their educational and linguistic competence and thus raise their self-esteem, self-confidence and consequently open mindedness towards cooperation with foreign partners3. The students will be trained on how to function properly in the society4. The society will benefit in a way that the students will become its active and fully integrated members5. The school will be ready to share its knowledge and experience gained in the project with other similar institutions throughout the country.
