Team - Sports against alienation is a youth exchange project organised by the 4H association of Lapinlahti and the Otterbacher Schuchplattlerverein folk dance group. It's objectives are to prevent social exclusion, and enhance multicultural interaction and the oral use of a foreign language by the means and methods offered by sport and exercise.The youth exhange gathers 24 Austrians and 30 Finns from the countryside to Lapinlahti for 10 days, 10-19.6.2016. During the exchange, the participants will familiarize themselves with various sporting activities around Upper Savonia. More specific issues, for example social exclusion, group and inclusive exercise, multiculturalism and prosocial behaviour, are tackled in workshops.After the youth exchange, the participants have enhanced their competence and knowledge in the possibilities of sports, preventing social exclusion and interaction in multicultural situations. Youth have more self-confidence and support to use their oral language skills and move around Europe more freely.The project is deemed to prevent social exclusion and promote multiculturalism and internationalism especially in the countryside in the long run.
