Teaching Teachers
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Teachers who are teaching gereatric care are supposed to experience health care systems and training courses in various European countries. Due to a lack of qualified personell the training will be international in future. Today we have students from differnt countries and more and more nurses from other European countries will immigrate to do their apprenticeship in Germany. That is the reason why it is strictly necessary to experience the educational background and lifestyle of the people abroad. The exchange with Spain and Estonia, in which countries there is no difference between gereatric care and nursing, is considered as very useful for our school regarding the introduction of the “Generalistische Pflegeausbildung”. Furthermore, three years of training are done at university in both countries. The participants are supposed to strengthen their skills, for example intercultural and social competence as well as their language skills (Nursing English as technical jargon). The teachers are supposed to get to know the level of instruction to compare it with the German system. This is absolutely necessary to organize internships for students in foreign countries. In this way also the training of students with a migrant background will be more supported and international qualifications will be more accepted. Therefore six colleagues of the EvBS are supposed to visit schools in Barecelona and Tartu to get to know the theoretical as well as the practical instructions abroad. It is our aim to realize a stay abroad in Spain and Estonia for the trainees at the EvBS as well as for the instructors of the cooperated companies. Nurses from Spain and Estonia will have the opportunity to come to Germany to do an internship.
