Teaching strategies and methodologies for the development of intercultural relations: a participatory approach
Start date: Aug 31, 2004, End date: Dec 30, 2005 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project aims at putting to good use the experience acquired by the United World College on the issue of education and training for the development of intercultural relations, in order to set up a table for dialogue and exchange between the teachers and students on teaching systems, with special reference to multicultural issues. This project aims at creating a permanent intercultural laboratory where secondary schools of the cross-border area can discuss and experiment techniques and instruments that are necessary for the integration of different linguistic and cultural groups. Each school appoints two Project Groups: Teachers (5 teachers per school, among the most relevant subjects) and Students (15 students per school belonging to different classes). The project groups will set up commissions, among which 5 on learning methodologies open to teachers of various didactic subjects. The meetings are held weekly and require the analysis of the various methodologies. As regards the students three commissions are set up: International Conference, Me and the Other, Website and Forum. The project deals with world conflicts and global issues,; workshops will be organised; students are shown, through a video that educates while entertaining, which behaviours generally inhibit mutual understanding and knowledge; communication activities are also implemented.
