Teacher Development
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This advanced training is supposed to improve the quality of teaching at school. In the context of this programme, two members of the teaching staff will be concerned with investigating typical cultural singularities of Britain. Moreover, they will also devote themselves to the latest methods of improving foreign language acquisition at primary school. The two colleagues will participate in the training event called ‟English in the Primary Classroom” and are desirous to enhance their fluency in the English language. In addition, they endeavour to exchange teaching materials, but they also want to increase their knowledge of modern methods of both teaching and learning. This advanced training programme, and the associated exchange with native local teachers as well as the experiences gained in the context of this programme, certainly will prove to be beneficial to our school's objective of fostering both intercultural awareness and social learning. Ideally, another side effect of this programme will be the establishment of partnerships with teachers based in other countries: this might entail a constant exchange of ideas concerning issues such as intercultural, social and inclusive learning, but also even potential reciprocal visits, so that insights into teaching in other countries might be gained. It is not only those members of the teaching staff who will participate in the advanced education programme in question who can benefit from it by gathering relevant experiences which can be employed and implemented in their own lessons: the colleagues at their school will profit from this as well, since they can gain new insights from the colleagues who will take part in the programme, because the latter will share their knowledge in advanced training sessions and meetings provided at our school. The two teachers who will join the programme could also assist their colleagues in terms of the preparation of projects or general tuition provided by fellow teachers. Thus, it is our school as a whole which will benefit from this advanced training programme.
