Kempenhorst College is a contemporary and modern place of education which is constantly developing. There are different projects within the school’s English department, i.e. Anglia, language learning community, and IT in class. Within the entire school, projects like ‘VMBO T op maat’ (secondary preparatory vocational education fitted for pupils’ needs), globalisation, and IT & project based education.Globalisation is important throughout all subjects within the school with focus on Europe and the European Union. We use teaching methods adapted to the different learning levels of the students. Some students use English – English books and pupils who have more difficulty learning use a English – Dutch method. To differentiate between the students, we also exchange knowledge between other education centres in Europe and use the knowledge accordingly. Broadening of the expertise of the applicants is the main object of our project, to broaden the knowledge of our staff and students. They keep up with new developments and make these their own, like Social Media. New learning styles and teaching methods are the base for our project. The selected courses of the participants are aimed to find and learn these new styles and methods. They want to come in contact with different experts to exchange knowledge, build international relationships and inform each other of their progress. Personal growth of the applicants is required to make this project a success.The applicants of the project are four teachers of English, each with their own set of qualities and qualifications underlined by the management. The applicants are coordinators of different projects within the school and are skilled in working on different levels within the school.Every applicant will partake in a course appealing to him or her. This resulted in a broad range of courses which is for the better of the project. The acquired knowledge will be shared using different methods of information sharing, like presentations, discussions and the use of different media.The long term goal is to keep the contents of our lessons up to date while working on different levels and incorporating globalisation as a key aspect, by maintaining the international contacts and our staff trained.
