Teacher Development
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

According to our European school development plan our Grund- und Stadtteilschule ( primary and secondary school) is striving for greater internationalization and cooperation with European partner schools. We pursue the objective of improving cross-cultural understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity and the expansion of the foreign language skills of our students. In order to achieve our objectives we have worked out an action plan which includes the eTwinning platform. In implementing the project we are, however, lacking skills and knowlwdge in the field of digital media and how to use them in the classroom. We would therefore like to send a teacher to a one week training course “Empowerment in ICT Skills” to Britain in oder to build the participant's confidence in technology skills and to increase the knowledge and awareness of how technology can be applied in the classroom. We expect that the participating teacher will hold school internal staff workshops and pass on the newly acquired skills. Especially the 29 teachers of the foreign language department should be equiped with the knowledge which enables them to participate in the implementation of the eTwinning project. In a first phase, the cooperation should relate to the department of foreign languages. At a later date, we would like to exand our cooperation with partner schools to other departments, like sports. The activity is also aimed at improving the quality of teaching in terms of blended learning. Participating in an international teacher course in the UK also allows a discourse with European colleagues and the development of an international network. The participating teacher has many years of teaching experience. She has good knowledge of evaluation and is very willing to share her newly aquired skills with a wide audience.Especially at a time, when fences are re-erected, resentments are fomented and exploited by various groups, it is important that students come into an intercultural exchange, reduce prejudices and find common ground.
