Teacher Development/Scholingsplan Docenten 2016-2017
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Veluws College Mheenpark joined the ELOS Network on August 1st, 2015. Even though we have developped many international activities these past seven years, in first instance within our VWO+ International classes, and later on also in other classes, we would like to shape our internationalization even further: to provide a higher standard, a firm foundation and a stable future. Whereas internationalization was the responsibility of a small number of teachers of our school at the beginning, we now strive to incorporate into every part of our school, making it a competence of every teacher at Veluws College Mheenpark. In first instance internationalization was restricted to our VWO+ department, now we are working at a complete package of international activities in every class and every department of our school. We are not only striving to satisfy standards required by ELOS, but more importantly trying to further develop our schoolstaff in its "life long learning programme", which we will need to cope with the requirements of a further globalising international surroundings.By way of KA1 Structured Courses our school, Veluws College Mheenpark, wants to professionalize all its teachers in the field of internationalization. Herefore we are working at two concepts:- increasing proficiency in modern foreign languages, in this our approach is "target language is spoken" throughout every lesson and customized learning- using the modern foreign language (English) to extend our international activities and increasing their quality by way of CLIL approachSending 5 colleagues to structured courses abroad during this first year of our new approach to develop knowledge and language skills, will give us an opportunity to have them be pioneers and building bridges in this proces of professionalization. In this way theywill further develop international activities and by way of "good practises" work at renewal of our education system. They will disseminate their knowledge and skills within their departments, within the whole school and its environment. The teachers targeted on have been selected by way of predetermined criteria. They represent the foreign languages and as far as CLIL approach is involved the other school subjects, so that we can incorporate internationalization broadly into our school. They will attend courses in the United Kingdom: Worcester; Malta: St. Julians; and Spain: Granada. The predetermined goals for internationalization in the plans of the various departments have been a leading theme in the selection of the courses mentioned above. After these courses teachers will employ further development within their departments, and together with the ELOS coordinators and management be responsible for further dissemination within the school and its partners.
