Teacher Development for Professional Purposes in Vocational Education and Training
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

On this project teachers from commercial schools of Bayern, Nordrhein Westfahlen and Hessen have the possibility to attend a professional development for business orientated English and Economics in London. The participants teach English and Economics in dual commercial business apprenticeships and other schools. The training weeks are set up as ongoing one week programmes at the European College of Business and Management (ECBM). The target of this program is to offer an in depth and current knowledge in the area of economics, to develop specialised language skills and to allow a comparison of the apprenticeship systems. Quality management and international networking are kept in focus. The teaching materials on this development programme are available to download from our own internet page. The training staff of ECBM as well as experts from the industry and educational centers has come together to develop a specialised training programme designed with the needs of our teachers in mind. Exclusively for this programme a professional Teacher Coach has been arranged to convey modern teaching and learning methods for the principles of teaching. Furthermore the training programme will include the following themes: the British educational and apprenticeship systems, the British Justice System, current political topics (such as the EU and Britain), economic topics (such as the property market, marketing, credit crunch, Banking system in England etc.) and the construction and the implementation of teaching material. To support the theory discussed on this programme the teachers are taken to different economic institutions for example the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Metal Exchange, Bank of England, The Old Bailey, business companies etc. One special advantage for the participants is the communication between colleges on a national and international level. Through this new cooperations are planned and new networks founded. In the context with international development programmes an intercultural exchange is especially important. That is why the participants are spending the training week staying at English host families. The project enables training unimpeded by national or international borders.
