TC HALOZE – ZAGORJE

Activities carried out under the project gave an impetus to the economic, cultural and overall development of the Haloze-Zagorje tourist region. By creating new jobs, the development of new tourist features provides entrepreneurs and farm holdings with possibilities for additional revenue. Cooperation among different entities on economic and non-economic bases has created better relations among the population on both sides of the border, and an area where the impact of the border will be progressively reduced has emerged. Achievements: Under the project, a joint management structure of the Haloze-Zagorje tourist zone was established with members from both sides of the border. Other activities were: training courses for tourist guides; establishment of a register of local tourist guides; drafting of a development strategy for the Haloze-Zagorje tourist zone; creation of ethnological collections; partial rehabilitation of the Dominkova and Vukova farmhouses, of the vine museum in Velika Varnica and the votive monument in Stogovci, Ptujska Gora. The tourist zone was presented along with numerous fairs and local and cross-border manifestations. A promotional film in four languages was also made and a tourist guide in four languages and other promotional materials were published.
