TAUVEWER — Teaching and Learning in Virtual Learning Environments for Water Management

The project is aimed to establishing an information and training infrastructure devoted to problems of water management and targeted to (1)decision makers of organisations dealing with anti-flood protection or operative interventions against water-connected natural disasters, (2) building companies active in the field of water infrastructures and controls (3) university scholars and students, in the perspective of creating a virtual circle of studies on the preservation of natural or human-shaped wet environment. It is foreseen a 6 modules based e.learning programme. The declared scope of the programme is operational and practice oriented, since the final beneficiaries of the training had to be the workers of water plants and staff personnel of organisations dealing with prevention of floods and rehabilitation of the water environment. The principal objective is to build a virtual information infrastructure connecting university scholars and operative experts for the management of flood prevention as well as for the crisis management in case of water related disasters. The activities concern the implementation of the e.learning environment for public and private bodies managers and staff, dealing with water control at national and local levels. The pilot training is part of such a programme. The most important expected outcomes are (1) the 6 modules based e.learning programme, supported by a FAQ e.tool, (2) the virtual circle of study devoted to host cross border lectures of scholars, contribution of students and experts. It could be envisaged the geographical extension to other regions crossed by big rivers and therefore at risk of floods.
