Tanárok motivációjának és szakmai kompetenciájának fejlesztése
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Szent Lőrinc Secondary Technical and Vocational School of Catering and Tourism has not applied for Erasmus + in the field of public education so far. The average age of the school staff (teachers) is above 40 years. All the members of the staff have had their compulsory professional training in the past few years, but the topics and level of these courses have not always met our needs. They can have a (short-term) effect on the individual teacher, but this does not bring changes and improvements in quality on the level of education in our institution. Therefore the management of Szent Lőrinc Technical Secondary School evaluated those critical points in the educational process that urgently need to be improved in order to reach a higher quality. Consequently, our project aims at personal mobilities, courses and activities for the staff that will bring the necessary changes in short term and in the long term strategy of our institution. The large scale of the planned activities and courses is underpinned by the number of defined problematic areas. We believe, that the plans for improvement we have made based on collecting and analysing data will provide the solution for our needs. The main strategy of our school is quality improvement in the defined fields of education in our institution through developing personal, professional competencies of our teachers. Consequently this would mean meeting new requirements and challenges coming from the fast-changing society. Critical points defined by the management are the following: going more international, preventing early-school leaving, impoving digital competencies of the staff and cultural competencies of both the staff and the students, discovering new methodologies in classroom management, promoting inclusion and improving the efficiency and standard in foreign language teaching. By selecting the most suitable participants we aim to discover the interface between these defined problematic areas, which leads to higher efficiency in quality improvement. Our project includes ten personal mobilities, out of which seven participants taking part in courses offering new prospects in the above mentioned fields, and three teachers doing job shadowing activity in our French partner institution. The requirements for taking part in the project have been clearly defined: high level knowledge of foreign languages, readiness for challenges and innovations, eagerness for professional development, ability to regard the consistency of their personal aims with the strategic goals of our institution important and having prior knowledge of the topic of the course.During the implementation of the mobility project we pay attention to practical arrangements, preparation, selection of participants, getting the participants fully prepared for the mobility. The follow-up activities include dissemination of information and knowledge, evaluation of the activities and the learning outcomes, as well as the use of the project’s outcomes. We intend to use clearly defined evaluation methods. We trust the project will have its direct effect on the participating teachers by becoming highly motivated, obtaining new best practices and methods, developing their personal, social, cultural and professional competencies, all these leading to implementation and further innovation. The project will contibute to increased motivation, better intercultural understanding, improved knowledge of foreign languages among students. Our strategic goal is to educate students owing all the competencies needed to become successful in their lives. Meeting new requirements and challenges in education needs highly-qualified teachers, who play a specific role in this process and contribute to it.
