Take the Active Part
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Feb 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Take the Active Part (TAP) – is a youth exchange that is aiming to encourage young people to know their selves and to make informed decisions when choosing a life / career path. According to a 2013 report by Gallup, there are twice as many “actively disengaged” workers in the world as there are “engaged” workers who love their jobs. In order to love the jobs that people do it is important to pay attention to how they choose their jobs – do they know the wide variety of choices they can make? Do they know their selves well enough to presume that the chosen career path is the one that will make one happy? What influence do the other people / institutions have in young peoples’ decision? When are young people expected to decide what are they going to do with their lives in different European countries? What could we learn from each other? These and many more are the questions that we are willing to answer during the youth exchange, which is supposed to bring together 25 young people from 5 European countries for 6 days in Lithuania (September 12-19). The aim of the project is to encourage young people to choose their life paths responsibly and be active in making decisions for their selves. Objectives of the project are the following: to help young people to know their selves better; to broaden the knowledge about standard and alternative study, work, employment possibilities; to get to know the European tendencies in how young people choose work and studies; To encourage active participation; To encourage young people to take charge of their lives and take the active part in it; to encourage intercultural dialogue; To fight against prejudice and stereotypes. The programme will be based on non-formal education methodology, experiential methods, sharing of experiences, simulations, real action, etc. We are expecting that after the project is finished, young people will know theirselves better, will know where they are in life and where they want to go. We are expecting young people to feel more empowered and willing to take actual action and to become active members of their communities.
