Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The city of Valkeakoski, Roukko primary school and Tyry lower secondary school form a corsortium of three organizations, which is applying for funding for a week long job-shadowing period in Spain. The number of participants is six: four teachers from Roukko and two from Tyry. Four of the participants are primary school teachers, one is an art teacher and one is a foreign language teacher. Our objectives are to acquire more knowledge in global education, European cultures and teaching methods and curricula in other European countries. We will especially focus on receiving new ideas on the teaching of arts and crafts and foreign languages. We will actively follow Spanish teachers in their work inside the classrooms in various Spanish primary and secondary schools. We also hope to receive Spanish teachers in our Finnish schools in exchange. Furthermore, we will try to establish a connection with Spanish teachers and students via eTwinning before the job-shadowing period, and hopefully continue using eTwinning after the job-shadowing has finished. Once the job-shadowing has ended, the knowledge and good practices learned during the job-shadowing period will be spread in our own schools as well as in other schools in Valkeakoski. We intend to do this by talking about our experiences in staff meetings, and also by using Internet based platforms. The experiences gathered during this project will be taken into account when designing the municipal school curriculum for the city of Valkeakoski. It's our profound wish that this project will provide us and our Spanish counterparts with fresh ideas on how improve our arts and crafts and foreign language teaching, and that it will positively impact the learning of our students too.
