Start date: Dec 31, 2014, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project "The Six in Europe" in High School No. VI in Opole is a great opportunity for the school to raise the quality of education and to give a European dimension in educational process. Ambitious and creative teaching staff of our school are open to meeting new and interesting methods of working in the classroom and innovative teaching techniques as well as modern ways of school management. The project provides an opportunity to strengthen the professional competences and teaching skills, as well as the exchange of experiences with teachers from other European schools. The comparison of educational systems, approach to students and ways of motivation to overcome school problems as well as teaching approaches will ensure a higher level of education of young people based on the orientation of the student in his full personal development and motivating him/her to take independent decisions related to education and career. Due to the opening of a class for students with special needs, there is a necessity to raise the competence of dealing with students with disabilities and impairments. Using the experience and solutions already applied and tested in countries of Western Europe we will be able to help those students adapt in the school environment and teach them efficiently in order to prepare them to adult life. The project, for the first time, makes it possible for teachers of general education to attend courses abroad and gives the opportunity to treat the education of a young person as a training of dealing well with European multi-cultural reality. Informing young people of all educational and professional opportunities is one of the main goals of the project. Therefore, the objective of the project is to prepare teachers to further implementation of the elements of English in the classroom of general education and then bilingual education. As teaching foreign languages is one of the priorities in our school, methodology and practice courses offering the latest methods in foreign language teaching can help motivate and encourage students. To educate a citizen of Europe and citizen of the world requires freshness of the approach to the student's changing personality and attitude to school. The project's purpose is to achieve European dimension of education through international contacts and participation in projects based on the mobilities of students, coordinated by well-prepared and fluent in foreign languages teachers. Integration with peers from other European countries is a guarantee of tolerance towards other cultures, differences and European diversity as well as the high self-esteem, distinction and uniqueness of Polish heritage. The project involves the school staff mobility within the two-week courses at colleges in the UK and Germany. These involve CLIL courses preceded by intensive language training for teachers of general education, methodology and practice for English and Germanists, Bi-component and BLP trainings for all teachers including a school psychologist and pedagogue, and trainings for headmasters. Participation in the project will influence the increase in popularity of our school and its chances on the local school market thanks to our rich educational offer, competitive and attractive to the local environment.
