Zespół Szkół nr 7 in Toruń consists of primary and lower secondary school. There are 760 students, 80 teachers and 18 administrative workers. There are 19 classes in primary and 12 classes in lower-secondary school. We participate actively in various local and international projects. The aim of the entire project was very coherent. There was a focus on improving the competence and abilities that would make our school truly European institution. Due to the effects that the school presented, school authorities planned to continue similar activities. In order to create European character of the school, the following results have been obtained: - using modern technology while planning language lessons - using the newest methodology approaches on the European level - improving the quality of language workshop among teachers and school authorities - international cooperation between schools and exchange of didactic materials - the development of European identity among students - teaching to tolerate cultural diversity and disabilities The school organized a project during which the teachers participated in language and methodology courses. The participants, 8 teachers and school authorities, were chosen according to their qualifications and school needs and possible involvement in future European projects. The participation of school authorities was a key to taking part in various international projects. Language teachers improved their methodology and linguistic competence and teachers of other subjects introduced interdisciplinary approach into their lessons. Also, the school authorities looked for international ways to develop. The courses chosen by the participants not only helped them improve their methodological competence but also the language level. The participation also helped to overcome the language barrier. Teacher managed to understand culture, history and heritage of other countries. Moreover, they had ample opportunity to exchange thoughts with teachers from other European countries, which resulted in the effectiveness of their lessons. Since the teachers have improved their language competence they will more eagerly participate in international projects and events in the future. Finally, new methods of teaching let the teachers prepare more innovative lessons and integrate the elements of other subjects. Making contacts with other teachers enables cooperation between institutions, participation in partnership programs, promotion of countries, and information about culture in order to interest students and get rid of stereotypes. Students can become true European citizens implementing European values and standards. The acquired experiences and competence was included in the strategic development plan of institution in the following areas entitled as follows: IMPROVED COMPETENCE OF SCHOOL AUTHORITIES THAT WOLUD RESULT IN BETTER “INTERNATIONAL OFFENSIVE” INNOVATIVE TEACHING LIFE-LONG SELF DEVELOPMENT OF THE STAFF SCHOOL WITH EUROPEAN VALUES BETTER MANAGEMENT BETTER IMAGE After returning, tasks popularizing the results were prepared and the evaluation process took place. Not only the participating teachers but also the authorities tried to implement new information during every day work. The most challenging task was looking for and organizing new international initiatives with foreign partners. Also the school authorities looked for new forms of financing various school projects. New techniques of managing the school were implemented. Promotion was a key aspect. The recipient of all promotional initiatives was local area, such as other schools, potential students, parents of potential students, the media, and local partners. All participants prepared lessons about European Union, its countries, languages and culture. What is more, there was also a competiton between all schols from Toruń, promoting knowledge about European Union and learning English.
