Szeged - Timisoara axis for the safe food and feed (SZETISA1)
Start date: Jan 31, 2011, End date: Jun 29, 2012 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project proposes solutions for improving food and feed safety by increasing the level of essential micronutrients and reducing those of toxic metals and other pollutants, especially fungal toxins in the staple food wheat and in the fodder crops. Thus, the project contributes to the state of health of the population. Added values are the better understanding of food chain safety; experience for beneficiaries; dissemination of knowledge and improvements of partner laboratories. Innovative elements are the interdisciplinary and complex approach. The project activities are organized into four activity packages: preparation activities, project management, communication activities, research and development. The direct beneficiary target group is formed by the young researchers (8 junior scientists, postdocs and PhD students from each sides of the border) and the closest indirect beneficiaries are the university students, biologists and environmental scientists, altogether 300 students.
