The main aim of the project is to transform the Jékey mansion from Géberjén and the Károly Castle from Carei and their surrounding areas in order to turn them into new and modern facilities serving both educational and recreational purposes. The specific objectives on the Hungarian side are linked to renovation of the Jékey mansion and turning the castle in a presentation center, construction of an Educational Path along the Natura 2000 areas surrounding the banks of the Dead - Szamos river. On the Romanian side a greenhouse replacing the one destroyed in 1887 will be built featuring plants from the Southern Mediterranean region the park of the Károlyi Castle from Carei, together with a summer house for educational, touristic and cultural purposes generating an atmosphere that fist into the concept of the castle. The target groups of the project are inland and foreign visitors to Géberjen and Carei and the region (especially children, youth groups), transit visitors in the region of Szatmár/Satu Mare, kindergarten children and secondary school pupils of the region who use the establishments for curricular purposes, young- secondary, high school and university students who are personally and scientifically interested in the environment and conservation, wildlife, history and traditions of the region of Szatmár/Satu Mare, researchers (scientists) who have a specific aim in visiting this region, and last but not least, the population of the region.
