The project titled ’Professional Practice in Germany’ involves three co-operating partner organisations. The name of the sender organisation is Szigeti-Gyula János Health Care Secondary Vocational School where students can get qualifications such as auxiliary nurses, licensed practical nurses, registered nurses and licensed or registered neonatal and paediatric nurses. One of the other partner organisations is SOLON Senioren-Dienste of Kipfenberg, a care home for elderly people receiving the students for a professional practice of five weeks. The third partner organisation is an education and consulting institution called Networxing Key Academy of Düsseldorf which provides opportunities for professional practice and organises trainings and seminars. It also has taken part in several Leonardo Mobility Projects finding venues for professional practice and having different partners in the areas of the cities of Essen, Duisburg, Oberhausen and Dortmund such as secondary technical schools, nursery schools, health care organisations, sports clubs, companies, and firms of the service sector. During the two weeks of the professional practice they are going to organise visits for example to health care training institutes, clinics or care homes for elderly people. The first group of participants from Szigeti-Gyula János Health Care Secondary Vocational School are 12 students from the 10th, 11th and 12th classes in the school year of 2015/16. They are going to travel to Düsseldorf for two weeks. The second group involve eight students altogether who have already passed their GCSE exams and who are educated in a professional training of registered nursing. They are going to travel to Kipfenberg in two groups of four, for five weeks each. The language of the project is German and the students’ competence according to the CEF is B1. The professional programme is in accordance with the requirements of the participants’ educating and training curriculum therefore the students’ compulsory summer professional practice is going to be fulfilled in this way and accepted officially by their school. The aims of the project are 1. to help secondary school students to learn about health care in Germany and to get to know the health care training system in order to make professional orientation easier after taking their school leaving exams 2. to help registered nurse trainee students to get the necessary professional experience during their five-week practice in order to be able to work independently, and to get to know the profession of geriatric nursing and the system of health care quality assurance in Germany. Additionally, the purpose of the project is to develop participants’ communicative skills in a foreign language and social competences. It is also important from the aspect of the teachers and trainers to adapt new professional experience, technologies and pedagogical methods. The expected outcome of the project is getting professional experience, knowledge of a foreign language, becoming more tolerant, open and initiative in order to increase chances of employment. It is significant as well to improve the quality of education and training with the help of new pedagogical and professional experiences of the participating teachers and medical vocational trainers’. The success of the project also encourages other schools to take part in similar projects and strengthens international co-operation later on. The main steps of carrying out the project are signing the contracts, selecting and informing the participants, final setting of the programmes, preparation for the journeys, organising preparatory seminars for the participants, fulfilling the professional practice, evaluating and publishing the results and outcome of the project. The dates and venues of the professional practice are 20th March – 2nd April 2016, Düsseldorf 21st February – 26th March 2016 and 27th March – 30th April 2016, Kipfenberg
