"Synligt lærende elever i en europæisk kontekst"
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project ”Visible learning students in a European context” is a project focusing on giving all teachers, pedagogues and leaders at Egebakkeskolen further training. The purpose of the project is to increase the European dimension at the school and to give teachers, pedagogues and leaders new tools to work with the concept ”Visible learning students”. 17 teachers, 8 pedagogues and 2 leaders, 27 persons altogether, participate in the project. The background to the project is split in two parts: One part is that the leadership of Egebakkeskolen by interviewing students in all classes and all teachers have been able to establish that the students only know little about what they are learning nor are they good at explaining it. At the same time we know from the school researcher John Hattie’s scientific work that precisely the student’s own consciousness of what he or she is about to learn is the most decisive factor in how much the students learn. It is therefore crucial that the pedagogical staff at Egebakkeskolen are trained to be able to help the students in being aware of their own learning. The other part of the project is that the school wishes to develop the European dimension of the school. It is therefore very important that the staff get specific experiences with international cooperation in a European perspective. The project is going to be implemented in the school year 2015-2016 when the school is working with the theme ”Visible learning students in a European context”. The theme is going to be started at several staff meetings and at an internal course this autmn. In November all teachers, pedagogues and leaders are going to England on an educational jouney. The contents of this educational journey is going to be planned by an English consultancy which also is responsible for unwinding the educational activities. On the educational journey the participants are going to be trained in working with different tools and methods that will improve the students’ learning and will also give knowledge of and experiences with the English school system. In Spring 2016 the staff are going to work with the theme again by incorporating some of the tools and the knowledge they got on the educational journey in their usual work with the students. This work will also be processed at staff meetings and in the staff’s team work.
