SWAP – Development and Promotion of Common Methodologies for the Reciprocal Recognition of Professional Qualifications in the Building Sector, within the Process of Modularisation of the Permanent Training

The SWAP project aims to develop, disseminate and promote a model of good practice for the recognition and certification of skills acquired in the workplace or in a non-formal environment, with a focus upon the building sector. Project partners will initially prepare a definition of common job profiles, followed by the development of a skills portfolio or ‘training pass’ for use by employees wishing to demonstrate their skills and competences and also for use by SMEs in being better able to employ a skilled workforce. End project results will comprise be a comparative study on good practice in the participating countries; a web platform providing training materials and all relevant project outcomes and a support manual in relation to the developed model. The primary beneficiaries of the project are SMEs in the building sector, in addition to existing and potential future employees, specifically those with minimal formal qualifications. Training bodies specialised in training activities for the building sector and national accreditation & certification bodies will also benefit from the project results. Dissemination activities will take place throughout the project lifetime and will rely upon the organisation of seminars and conferences, the distribution of relevant project outcomes (CD-Rom and printed formats) and the establishment of a dedicated project website.
