Sustainable COnstruction in Rural and fragile areas for Energy efficiency (SCORE)
Start date: May 31, 2010, End date: Nov 29, 2012 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main objective is to support the implementation of sustainable energy policies in the construction sector in fragile coastal and rural MED areas with exceptional landscape values, exploiting eco-innovative potential, using traditional building elements combined with innovative green technologies. The transnational cooperation will develop a benchlearning model, foster sustainable construction and create transferable innovative tools for energy-efficient building practices. Achievements: State of the art of project implementation since the project startSCORE aims to support integrated sustainable energy policies in the building sector in a wide range of fragile MED areas, by exploiting eco-innovative potential and fostering sustainable construction techniques and energy efficient housing, using elements of traditional building combined with innovative, green technologies. A survey of MED level regulations, study visits and case studies of eco-innovations in energy efficient building practices have been the basis for peer-learning for the partners. An -eco-construction tool- was developed - www.scoremed.eu - which allows the comparison and transfer of information. To foster replication, a joint transferable audit and evaluation model to assess the sustainability and transferability of energy efficiency practices has been developed for future policy making and mainstreaming. The partners have developed Guidelines for integrated territorial plans, criteria for a -MED bio-housing quality certificate- and Bio-construction Action Plans.Latest project activities and outputsDuring this period the final high-level awareness event was held in Genoa. The parners produced -Guidelines for integrated territorial planning-, and collaborated on the definition of shared indications and criteria for a -MED bio-housing quality certificate- applicable in the countries of partners involved, -Bio-construction Action Plans- with transnational themes were developed. Study visits to eco-efficent best practices in Greece and France were attended by the partners. The interactive eco-construction tool on the website was completed to allow the assessment, comparison and transfer of information among different partners, stakeholkders and other interested actors in the sector in the Mediterranean.Next key steps for the projectThe project is now completed.
