The specific purpose of the project was to assess the need for an infrastructure project, strengthening the cross-border social and economic relations but the project also focused on improving cross-border cultural and social co-operation. With the help of the support, a study was prepared on the social and cultural impacts of the infrastructure project, based on which the need for future railway development can be objectively assessed form social and economic aspects. Parts of the railway rehabilitation feasibility study focusing on social and economic aspects have also been completed. The scheduled re-launch of the railway line will also most probably give a boost to inter-regional relations.
