Sur le chemin d'une nouvelle culture scolaire
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

At a time we'll enter in a new national curriculum for primary school and basic education is being renewed in France, a new school project based on this core curriculum should be prepared for a period of three academic years. The new curriculum aims to respond to changes in the surrounding world. The focus in education is now on transversal competence : knowledge, skills, values and attitudes. Teaching will become more broad-based and cross-curricular.In this project we want to focus on the following transversal skills : thinking and learning to learn, cultural competence and cultural literacy, foreign languages, ICT competence and participation and influence building sustainable future. Pupils must take more responsibility for their learning while a teacher becomes more a facilitator and supporters of learning. To enhance pupils responsibility and active role in learning we use task-related, problem based, active and functional learning methods. We as teachers need to do continuous cooperation with each other, adapt to more variable learning groups, colleagues and schedules. We need new pedagogical tools, constant dialogue among teachers, motivation to develop our own work as well as encouraging atmosphere to try new learning methods. In order to achieve these goals we need to change our school culture. With this Erasmus KA1 project, we are trying to meet the demands of the future by finding job shadowing partners in Europe. The title of our project is "On our way towards a new school culture". With this project we try to find new ways to develop thinking skills and transversal competence areas strengthen our roles as encouraging and inspiring facilitators and supporters develop our school more meaningful for learning create positive school climate.Taking part in the cooperation with an other European school responds to the staff’s ongoing need for improvement and exchange of good practices. There will be four mobilities in this project. Teachers of our school are going to take part in a job shadowing in a primary school in Finland. The aims of this visit are to get acquainted with and observe how pupils feel being in school, how to use ICT in learning, multiculturalism, how to integrate pupils with special needs to classes and school community as well, developping teachers’ cooperation and active learning methods.Sharing and discussing good practices with Finnish colleagues broadens everyone’s perspectives. We planned our mobilities to this country in order to get transversal and cultural perspectives from a different environment. We want to be examples to our pupils and bring contacts and interaction with European pupils through eTwinning for example.Several teachers being involved in this project enables versatile and rich experiences for the whole school and in the future to be passed on to other schools in Frejus. Altogether the biggest beneficiaries are the pupils in the Ecole Les Chênes. There will be more involvement and active learning methods used after this job shadowing period. Positive school climate enables academic achievement in our school. Teachers are able to support and advice students to become more active in planning their learning, setting goals, utilizing new learning environments and tools as well as in evaluating their knowledge.
