Supporting the Needs of Older, Vulnerable Employees (SNOVE)

The aim of the project was to refine and review the innovative UK experience of the GFTU in positively supporting older, vulnerable workers as they approach retirement and/or unemployment. The UK experience offered vulnerable workers the opportunity to gain accreditation within the national qualification framework as an aspect of developing their competencies in a range of areas including modern job search techniques and confidence building. These workers were supported to engage in lifelong learning initiatives and were often non-traditional learners with a minimum level of educational or vocational qualifications. This learning addressed the basic needs of workers who had little or no experience of changing jobs, seeking work and/or applying for work. This resulted in these workers have low levels of self-esteem, confidence and also under-rating their own job skills gained over many years of employment. The project objective was the development of a comprehensive training package available for delivery via trade unions or employer representative organisations. It will embed training outcomes within vocational education and training accreditation systems within the respective partner countries.Workers will gain the capacity formobilty as a a result of engagement with the project and the delivery of the transfererd products secure employability.
