Superconductivity Multimedia Educational Tool Phase 2 for In-Service Training of Upper Secondary School Physics Teachers – SUPERCOMET 2
The project responds to an identified need for physics teaching in schools, where there are either too few teachers, or non-specialist teachers, teaching physics and will further develop ICT teacher training tools for application in the classroom. SUPERCOMET 2 builds upon the previously fundedLeonardo da Vinci project, SUPERCOMET, which established computer-based training materials for the target group. The current project will extend the original partnership to include 10-15 partners. Project partners will develop new teaching modules building upon the existing SUPERCOMET computer applications which will necessitate revision of the existing SUPERCOMET teacher guide (CD-Rom and printed booklet) and revision and expansion of the SUPERCOMET teacher seminar to incorporate new material and new project partners. The newly developed material will then undergo piloting in schools across the partner countries. A dedicated project computer platform will service both teachers and students and will provide opportunities for teacher-and-student-led activities and self-learning. An online course will be further developed to assist teachers in the delivery of the developed teaching materials. Additional project activity will include the upgrading of the existing SUPERCOMET computer server and platform. Dissemination of SUPERCOMET 2 results is planned for a wide audience to include policy makers and curriculum authorities and will make use of existing partner networks (resulting from SUPERCOMET). Project partners will also investigate the potential for commercialisation of the end results.
