Sun and Wind: Universal Renewables for Local Sustainability (Sun and Wind)

The project aim is to promote effective and sustainable use of local renewable energy resources and to diversify the range of used sources of energy through joint research, planning, pilot projects implementation and exchange of experiences in the target regions of Estonia and Northwest Russia. Russian and Estonian municipalities in the Project show intent and political will to use their territories as testing grounds for such pilots (technical, information and organizational) together with the participating consultants Achievements: 1. Demonstrated options of wider use of local renewable energy usage in public sector. Coverage of 3 main municipal services - street lighting, heat and energy supply. - 6 showcases of using solar and wind power, biofuel and ground heat. - modern equipment for street lighting will be used; - Estimation of the potential of developing usage of local renewables - 4 models of renewable energy supply and production chain described and evaluated for using in South Estonia and Pskov Oblast; - 1 Energy Class modernized for information and methodological support of local authorities and population on sustainable development and energy efficiency issues; - 4 seminars on renewable energy and energy efficiency; - Networks of renewable energy experts, local authorities and public representatives established.
