"Success for Everyone" (Job Shadowing) und "Finnish Lessons in EU Schools"
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Südschule is attended by 287 children. Nearly 50% of the pupils have an immigrant background and about 12% have a diagnosed special educational needs. A few Roma children are part of our school community as well as some children who don't speak German. About 80% of the children come from low-income families and educationally disadvantaged families. It is very important for us to encourage these children , so that the risk of early school leaving is reduced. In an evaluation of the development of our school individualization and differentiation were particularly revealed . It 's important to get new impulses as well as the experience of other forms of learning and developing new ways to evaluate the skills of colleagues in the fields of improving ICT skills, new teaching methods or materials, curriculum, organization of teaching and learning. This is what we'd like to achieve through both trainings "Finnish Lessons for EU Schools" and the project "Success for Everyone" (job shadowing). Mrs.Brinkhoff, Mrs Objartel-Balliet and Mrs Schaufelberger will participate in the trainings. Mrs Objartel-Balliet is a 2nd class class teacher. She participated with her former school in various Comenius projects from 2002 to 2013 . Mrs Objartel-Balliet also participated in various EU trainings, has got experience with eTwinning and initiated several projects there. Ms. Schaufelberger is a special education teacher. She encourages children (preventive) in classes and in small groups and is a consultant for the colleagues and the parents. As a member of the teachers council and the control group "school program", she is an important person in the structure of inclusion. Mrs Brinkhoff' is the headmistress and responsible for the implementation of inclusion , the development of teaching quality, team building, etc. In the training course "Finnish Lessons for EU Schools", we will inform us about the Finnish approach to a quality development in schools. We will learn new individualized teaching methods and strengthen our expertise in instructional quality assurance and improvement. In addition, we will continue this training process through the project "Success for Everyone" (Job Shadowing) for the next 2 years . By job shadowing with schools in France, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Greece, we will see how we can prepare the lessons in our school more effectively to achieve better learning outcomes for the students. Good teaching practice and motivating materials will be presented and exchanged, are shown in practice and thus made transferable to our own students. In this project, we work on the subjects support for children with special educational needs / inclusion, language support / strengthen reading skills, strengthening math and science skills and key pedagogical strategies to prevent early school leaving. The eTwinning platform will be used for communication in both projects. Even after the courses this platform will remain active and will be open to other interested colleagues. Through this internet partnerships an external dissemination of learning outcomes is secured. After the training the participants will be able to plan and perform a better quality education. Students will gain a better and more individualized instruction and the result will be an increase in learning outcomes. Through the dissemination of the results in conferences the other colleagues will learn to improve their teaching as well and the skills of all pupils will improve.
