Study Abroad, Learning and Mobility for promoting structured cooperation and European higher education
Start date: Jul 15, 2013,

SALAM2 aims to foster cooperation between HEIs in Iran, Iraq & Yemen and the EU. Specific goals of the project are:• Development of qualifications and career prospects of students and staff,• Promotion of mobility between L8C and EU, especially of those from vulnerable groups, • Promotion of intercultural dialogue and mutual enrichment of societies of the Lot countries and Europe, • Contribution to the sustainable development of the countries involved, • Promotion of the EHEA and the ERA as centres of excellence. SALAM 2 will tighten the existing bonds with partner HEIs in L8C as well as initiate cooperation with new institutions in order to create a long-lasting, structured collaboration in education & research. The added value of SALAM 2 proposal lies in a focus on quality in mobility, recognition of the results and sustainability of the project’s outcomes. A Quality and Recognition Committee will be established to enhance quality in mobility and to work out recommendations for a smooth recognition of grades and credits. The shift in mobility distribution towards PhD, post-doc & staff mobility will serve for knowledge transfer and the multiplier effect of the project’s outcomes. SALAM 2 will also offer additional e-learning possibilities to beneficiaries, alumni & staff at partner HEIs in L8C for personal and professional skills development. The project will bring both immediate and long-term results. Beneficiaries will gain knowledge and qualifications in other countries. They will be able to develop critical skills necessary for functioning in the knowledge-based society, transfer them to their home countries, and increase their chances for career advancement. Consequently, the project will result in building academic and administrative capacity of the HEIs in L8C, further developing structured and sustainable cooperation with the EU partners, supporting stability and sustainable development. Societies of both parts of the partnership will be enriched.
