Strohstadt - Straw Town - Slama Grad - Città di Paglia
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Dec 31, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

„Strowtown“ - Using participatory methods, we want to co-create a tempory village out of straw bales near the medieval walled town of Friesach in Carinthia, and live in it for the duration of our activity, learning together about holistic design methods that are powerful tools for sustainable development. Background and context of the project is that we are working on creating a network for change towards a more sustainable culture and society in the alpes-drava-adriatics region. This project should empower and enable participants to use their creativity for sustainability. We will design „strw town“ collaboratively with preliminary workshops and online (wiki), and use holistic, participatory methods like certain group desicion-making methods, permaculture and Christopher Alexanders approach of „pattern languages“. Our aim is, that participants learn a lot about those methods and connect with the involved people from four regions in the wider alpes-drava-adriatics region. We intend the project to be a starting point for further common activities with a positive impact for efforts to improve sustainability on local, regional and interregional levels in the longer term.
