Strengthening Youth Commitment for Civil Society in St. Petersburg
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project aims to get volunteers aqcuainted with the NGO sector in Russia and with different projects of NRO, to invest volunteers' interest and willingness to participate into the current projects and also encourages volunteers to come up with their own project ideas in the sphere of international exchanges, culture and civic participation in general.During their service in the Russian NGO two volunteers will experience, how active citizenships in Russia works and they will be a part of it. Volunteers will have a chance to communicate and work together with the staff and volunteers of Russian NGOs and to get closer to their understanding of the third sector and the way civil society functions in Russia.Volunteers are expected to be responsible and committed to the principles of non-discrimination, as well as to have a strong motivation and be open for learning processes. Knowledge of English is expected, knowledge of German and Russian would be an asset. Volunteers will be a part of NRO with its diverse activities. One important activity is Conversation Club in German traditionally held by volunteers. It invites everyone no matter of age to come and discuss topical issues in German. This club creates an intercultural learning and communication space that welcomes everyone who is interested in the German language and in meeting new people. Volunteers will organise the club, search for the topics, prepare discussions and promote the club to invite more people.Apart from that NRO is glad to get help and new impulses in some of the daily activities of the staff with its diverse projects: volunteer and school exchange, Au-Pair programme, and Bridge It. Among the daily activities will be fostering social media of NRO and its website and as well help with translation between Russian, German, and English. Promotion of EVS is expected to be one more activity for volunteers during their service. NRO will undoubtedly benefit from volunteers service as they are going to bring a new perspective in the work of the organisation, new ideas and new practices, as well as a valuable international atmosphere which has become a distinction of NRO. At the same time, volunteers will have an experience of work in a Russian NGO and an overview of the third sector in Russia on the whole, as well as a space to elaborate and fulfill their own projects.
