Strengthen the capacity of Dog handling services of border guarding institutions (Development of Service Dog Handling)

The main issue addressed in the project is the enhancement of capacity of dog handling services of border guarding institutions in Latvia and Belarus. The joint project could improve the methods of border guarding activities and resource base of dog breeding services to the level and standards of the EU. The project activities aim to increase the security level of inhabitants living in the Programme implementation territory (according to the European Union and Schengen Agreement requirements), and effectiveness of border and immigration control and operational capacity of law enforcement institutions involved in project for acting in crisis situations. Expected Results: The project will improve the safety of inhabitants living in the Programme territory, as well as will promote the progress in the prevention of illegal migration, flow of prohibited items smuggling, human trafficking on the both sides of EU external border; Also the dog handlers of project partners will organize common training activities in order to improve not only the efficiency of everyday tasks but also to develop the actions performed in crisis situations; the new service dogs, equipment and specialized transport will be purchased.
