STREETS Mapping and connecting young creative scenes in Europe
Start date: Jan 1, 2013,

Artistic scenes are a fundamental factor for the cultural enrichment of a specific community. Throughout history, small groups of young artists have contributed to revolution the established cultural discourses, adding their diverse conceptions about art and challenging the cultural mainstream. In order to achieve these goals, though, creative scenes should be sustained and should rely on specific cultural infrastructures. Especially in the case of young innovative artists, this is even more important. The project STREETS aims at mapping and connecting young creative scenes in Europe. All the activities of the project are finalized at the development and support of a self-sustainable network of musicians, comic and animation artists. Through the project and the resulting artistic network, the artists will be provided with the opportunity of raise their knowledge about different media of artistic expression and to get inspired by different cultural and artistic perspectives and backgrounds. The cooperation between different European artistic scenes will result in highly creative, interdisciplinary performances and products, thus raising the quality of the artistic production of each scene but also its ability to reach several European publics and communities. The results of the cooperation between musicians, comic and animation artists, in fact, will be available to the different local communities involved in the project, through a series of public events, exhibitions and performances. In this way, our creative scenes will be connected with local and international cultural stakeholders, institutions and organizations, thus widening their opportunities for increasing the mobility and the exchange of artists and artistic products beyond the borders of their respective national cultural environments.
