Motivated by the long-standing international experience of its members, Association “Global Development” is aiming to conduct a research among the young people in high schools and universities. The purpose of the research is identifying young people’s needs, build and develop their personality traits, abilities and performance skills, crucial for their future growth, motivation and career development in the global workforce landscape of rapid and profound change. Developing a concept that outlines the necessary framework of skills and qualities that students need to build and develop at a stage in which they are facing key life choices will help us to draw up a future youth policy at local level related to the growth of young people as active members of society , as well as drawing up an effective guidance for the young people in finding balance in ' choice of education / labor market ‘.At this stage the project team will develop a concept that will contain the key features of the non-formal education necessary for young people to make a reasoned and balanced choice in education /labour market and draw the necessary framework of skills and qualities that students might need to develop when facing key life choices. The balance between the “choice of education/labour market” is one of the key factors in their successful career development and finding the right place as active members in the modern civil society. It is also crucial for decreasing young people’s emigration. The priority of every modern society is encouraging the personal development of the young people, aged 17 – 21 and building their life skills.Non-formal education has been proven worldwide for stimulating young people to look for various and effective ways to develop and realise their potential. Our research aims to have constructive discussion between: the young people who are facing key life choices; the young people who have already made their choice and pursued a successful career; government authorities; and tutors with international experience in implementing specific methodologies and practices for personal development, life skills, career guidance and development. Our main project activity is preparing and organising preliminary survey among young people, aged 17 – 21, who are trying to make their balanced choice in “education/labour market” and those who have already made that choice. The purpose of the survey is to define the need to build and develop specific life skills and traits that would make this crucial choice effective.Based on the survey results, four webinars will be organised in the four big cities in Bulgaria during which the basic needs for building and developing life skills in the non-formal education will be discussed. The discussion groups will include about 25 participants, including both students in high-school and university and young professionals. The groups will be coached and led by experienced tutors with international experience in the implementation of strategies and practices in the non-formal education related to the personal development of the young people. At this stage the project team will develop a concept that will contain the key features of the non-formal education necessary for young people to make a reasoned and balanced choice in education /labour market and draw the necessary framework of skills and qualities that students might need to develop when facing key life choices. The project will finish up with a one day workshop during which a structured dialogue between the participants in the survey, the participants in the webinars, and public authorities will take place. The purpose of the workshop is to create and record strategies and practice guidelines related to young people’s needs to build and develop critical life skills for their balanced choice in “education/labour market” and their future career as well as implementation of those guidelines in the non-formal education. The opportunities of “Erasmus +” programme through “Strategic Dialogue” will also be presented at the workshop as a tool for ideas and conceptions planning and subsequent interaction and collaboration between the young people and public authorities/institutions responsible for the youth policy. The proposed project will define the needs of the young people to build strategies and policies related to their personal development and career guidance as well as building and developing effective life skills to encourage young people to realise their potential in our modern civil society.
