STRATEGII DIDACTICE FORMALE SI NONFORMALE PENTRU IMBUNATATIREA COMPETENTELOR PROFESIONALE IN INDUSTRIA OSPITALITATII

The project called "Formal and Nonformal Didactic Strategies for Improving Professional Competencies in the Industry of Hospitality ", implemented within the program ERASMUS+, KA1 - Learning Mobility of Individuals, VET learner and staff mobility, was initiated by Colegiul Economic "Octav Onicescu", the greatest educational TVET institution in the field of services in Botosani. The teaching staff of the college counts 22 teachers of technological subject matters.
The purpose of the project aimed at improving the quality of the teaching process by carrying out formal and nonformal didactic strategies in the activities of theoretical and practical training of students in the field of hospitality.
By implementing the project, the following objectives have been reached:
1. improvement in the level of the didactic competencies of teachers by diversifying the formal and nonformal strategies that can be applied in the theoretical and practical training of the students in the industry of hospitality
2.higher level of the entrepreneurship competencies, necessary in the complex training of students to initiate and develop business on the hospitality industry market in order to capitalize local resources
3. development of the ability to approach from an interdisciplinary angle the professional training of the students in the field of hospitality industry - tourism and catering
4.personal development by getting familiar with the Italian culture, cultural traditions and educational system
The objectives have been reached through a mobility of a group of 12 teachers who train students in the field of tourism and catering-hospitality industry in Italy, Palermo, at the receiving organization CESIE - Centro Studi ed Iniziative Europeo.
The duration of the mobility was of nine days (February 4th-15th 2015) of which seven were spent doing training activities and two, the weekend, doing cultural activities.
COLEGIUL ECONOMIC "OCTAV ONICESCU" BOTOSANI - as the sending organization - operated the selection of the mobility participants, made the general, pedagogical, linguistic and cultural preparation of the participants; it also made the arrangements for the international transport, monitored,promoted and disseminated the project.
The external partner, CESIE, is a civil society organization, nonprofit, apolitical, with good experience in using nonformal educational techniques as pedagogical instruments and in hosting events planned to meet the specific learning needs of joung people and adults, of professionals,of teaching staff (management and control, school education, VET) through projects of mobility:Hosting IVT, Hosting VETPRO, Hosting PLM.
CESIE - as the receiving organization - made the arrangements for the local transportation in Palermo, for accommodation, for food,organised the training activities during the mobility; it also monitored and disseminated the project, and assessed the participants issuing the mobility certificates at the end.
The activities performed within the working program during the mobility were:
-participation in actions of theoretical and practical training in the field of hopspitality and entrepreneurship
-round tables and group discussions (to identify and analyse formal and nonformal strategies)
-workshops on the topic of didactic planning and assessment, formal and nonformal strategies included
-visits to economic agents
-trips to cultural landmarks:The Historical and Cultural Centre in Palermo, The Cultural Centre Monreale, Santuarul Santa Rosalia, the region Catania - Taormina
The following immediate results of the project have been registered:
-improvement of didactic and entrepreneurship competencies of teachers of professional training of students in the field of hospitality industry - several didactic,extradidactic and extracurricular activities have been performed by teachers of technological subject matters using varied formal and nonformal strategies
-promotion of a better school image and educational offer - the school has been involved in an international SES project in October 2015 , collaborating with a German expert in Tourism and catering , several agreements have been signed up with economic agents in catering (and not only)for the practical training of students
- greater interest of students in the training in the field of hospitality industry - all places for training in the field of catering both in highschool and professional school have been taken , all highschool graduates specialised in catering are integrated on the work market within companies with activity in the hospitality industry
- clearer perception of the international dimension of education and practical training
The benefits hoped for in the long run consist in developping the ability of initiation and putting into practice of business in the field of hospitality industry in particular, capitalising the local potential.
