Story of a Citizen

International youth Exchange “Story of a Citizen” brings together 30 young people 18-25 y.o. from 6 countries (Ukraine, Poland, Georgia, Lithuania, Azerbaijan and Bulgaria). The project takes place in Crimea, Ukraine and lasts for 8 days. The main theme of this Youth Exchange, active citizenship, is tightly connected with the theme of the European Year of Citizens and is aimed at raising the issues which are relevant for all Europeans in the present days. The objectives of the project are: to promote active citizenship among young people; to foster young people’s sense of European citizenship; to help young people to understand their role as a part of the present and future of Europe; to provide support for young people with fewer opportunities living in rural or deprived urban areas to realize their citizens’ rights and responsibilities; to promote international cooperation and support the process of sharing best practices in the sphere of the youth work; to promote tolerance between people from different countries; to create a place for multicultural learning and understanding. The methods will be used all based on the non-formal education principles: group work and discussions, simulations and role plays, theater workshops, intercultural nights, intercultural workshop, teambuilding and trust building activities, energizers, ice-breakers, getting to know each other activities, reflection groups, “living library”, theater of oppressed, creative writing workshop, film production workshops, filming, excursions etc. The final result of the project will be a film about active citizenship which participants will bring and present in their communities after the youth exchange. The Applicant organization Center for European initiatives is a hosting partner in the project.
