The SPIRE project intends to establish confirm the value of energy storage on the Irish Market and to determine the technologies best suited to meeting market needs at a (distributed) small and medium scale and at a (utility) large scale by modelling and demonstration. This will result in a more efficient delivery of public services through lower cost electricity through wind optimisation and reduced network costs and a clear and measurable economic impact through lower energy costs for homes and businesses and the development of new technologies and expertise enabling knowledge and equipment export potential.
