Start date: Jan 21, 2013,

Project Shipyard is a woman. Women's tales from Gdansk's Shipyard is a local inititative based on concept of herstory. It's part of a bigger project – the herstorical blog about women of Tiricity called Metropolitanka. The main topic od this project is stories, oral histories told or about women connected with Gdansk's Shipyard by work, politics, family or art. According to the project's plan we want to create an audioguides for Gdansk's Shipyard, which enable people to explore the place and it's history on their own. The participants of the project would be recruited basically among students of humanistic and social sciences such as: ethnology, culture studies, sociology, journalism and people. Those participants after taking part in herstory and oral history workshops. Will be conducting their own small projects of conducting interviews on women's history of Gdansk's Shipyard with former worker and activists. Activities planned within the project are: recruitment, herstory and oral history workshops, collecting and compiling information, working group meetings, recording and editing and audioguides, creating additional interactive material and texts for blog. The main goal of the project is bringing forgotten women's history back to life and create a narration about Gdansk's Shipyard from women's perspective. Another goal is developing adequate methods and theoretical background among participants of the project. Therefore, we want to start a cross-generational dialogue between researchers and interlocutors. As the effect of the project, we plan to share the audioguides, audiovisual materials and texts online as to make people explore Sipyard's herstories on their own. What is more, we would like to develop certain standards of herstories that might be useful both for the participants and for the next projects.
