Stimulation of cross-border tourism in Lithuania and Belarus by improving the accessibility and attractiveness of cultural-historical heritage in Rokiškis and Postavy regions (Cross-border heritage tourism)

Low accessibility and attractiveness of common cultural heritage objects situated in historically interrelated regions of Rokiškis (Lithuania) and Postavy (Belarus), as well as insufficient employment of their potential for the tourism development has a negative impact over on the sustainable development of the regions. Combination of the regions’ competitive resources in the fields of tourism and recreation could create a synergy of joint tourism products and promotion activities.The project activities aim to intensify intercultural dialogue and increase the tourist tourism attractiveness and economic competitiveness of the cross-border region by development of closer cultural connections and creation of a competitive, heritage-based tourism cluster in Rokiškis and Postavy regions. Expected Results: The project will increase the accessibility and attractiveness of the common Lithuanian-Belarusian cultural-historical heritage by renovating Tyzenhaus alley in Rokiškis and Tyzenhaus palace in Postavy; stimulate cooperation in the field of tourism and culture by organisation organising of the an ethnographical expedition and conductiong of the an International international conference based on the expedition findings; promote cross cross-border tourism by introductiong of a new cross cross-border tourist route, which shall integrate the cultural-historical heritage objects in Rokiškis and Postavy regions into a competitive touristm product.
