Step Forward for Unity!
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project Step Forward for Unity aims at promoting solidarity, intercultural exchange and the value of sustainable development in the region of Caucasus (Armenia & Georgia). The objective of the project Step Forward for Unity is to empower youth and to make them "change agents" for a more sustainable society. An other underlying objective the project is the open dialogue and develop the cooperation between Europe and the Caucasus region, and to stimulate a local and sustainable development on both sides. The project Step Forward for Unity includes 7 mobilities (2 long-term and 5 short-term volunteering), all of them involve acting in favour of sustainable development but in different ways: - 5 short-term EVS (1 month) in Rustavi (Georgia) : construction, maintenance and general running of an eco-village. - 1 long term EVS (12 months) in Rustavi (Georgia( : lead activities and workshops for the local youth, promote the initiatives available and non-formal education activities to realize themselves in physical and intellectual fields - 1 long term EVS (12 months) in Yerevan (Armenia): lead activities for the local youth (including disadvantaged and rural youht) on themes of ecology, sport, culture or international cooperation. The profile of the participants for the 7 EVS is between 18 and 25 years old with a highly motivation for the projects, and participants with fewer opportunities for the 5 short term EVS (economical, geographical, socail and educational obstacles). This project will be led following a methodology acquired by experience, as Pistes Solidaires Méditerranée has been working on learning mobility for years. This methodology is based on: a good knowledge of administrative tools of the Erasmus + program, a good communication and “transparency policy” with our partners, an in-depth tutoring with the volunteers. The project is expected to have an impact on volunteers, the local community and the relation between Europe and Caucasus. Both the volunteers and local youth will live an intercultural experience. they will be more open for cooperation with people from different nations and cultures, they will encounter a new sustainable way of life and their minds will be broadened. The project will stimulate a local and sustainable development on both sides, from which society will benefit on the long term.
