STEM is an approach between disciplines arising from contextualization of one or more of the disciplines such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM can be described as an approach that encourages students for direct learning ,helping their dreams come true and also allowing them to transfer the new information in solving the new problem. STEM education is a comprehensive approach which gathers different disciplines, explaining what the science is and how and in which conditions it must be taught and also explaining the relation of science with other disciplines as well as exploring why science, technology, engineering and maths are useful for humanity. When considered from this point, STEM education can be defined as an approach in which different disciplines are optimized, giving the students to specialize on different fields and pushing individuals to research and examine. Besides that STEM education is an educational approach which provides economical and technological developments in a country. In other words STEM education is a teaching and learning approach integrated with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths knowledge and skills. STEM education aims to train students from all age ranges as individuals who are capable of using the information they learnt in their daily life no matter what their personalities are like. For this reason, STEM education is today applied in many fields including Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. Applying STEM education in Science and Maths lessons will increase the motivation, level of learning, skills and interest of the students. It will provide the students’ active participation to the teaching process, ease the learning and increase the permanence of the information. By the help of STEM education, the students will have the chance to experience the knowledge in practice which they may never use beyond theory. Thus, their problem solving and questioning skills and also motivation will increase. It will be easier to achieve processual targets and target behaviours by the help of STEM. Transforming the knowledge from theory into practice will help the permanence and the comprehension of the relation between the informations. In our Project, we would like to contribute to our Science and Maths teachers in their career development with STEM education. Within the scope of the Project, in consortium of Provincial Directorate For National Education, a total of 20 Science and Maths teachers from different schools including Kırşehir province Cumhuriyet Secondary School, Boztepe district Gazi Osman Öztürk Secondary school,Çiçekdağı district Şehit Öğretmen Bayram Tekin Secondary School and Zahide Zehra Garring Secondary school will be acknowledged about STEM education and provided with necessary on-the-job training about it. Within the scope of the Project, our teachers will be provided with a 10 day on-the-job training in IRIS institution in Italy.The Project will be implemented between 01/05/2016 and 14/05/2016.
